Earth's Special Forces Community Forum Acceptable Use Policy

This message board is here for everyone’s enjoyment, it is a place for the ESF community to place their thoughts about the game with it's developers and a place for users to share thoughts and modifications with each other. This being said, it’s intended use is often disrupted when people break the rules placed here for the greater good of the community. These rules are always enforced, and cannot be overlooked while posting or private messaging. The rules are as follows:


Respect
First and foremost, we do not tolerate any kind of disrespect to other users. Do not flame, spam, racially or religiously slur, attack, or swear on the forums, or it will result in disciplinary action being taken against you. Attempts at shrouding disrespect under needless cynicism or sarcasm will not be tolerated, either. This is our golden rule, if all else fails, respect the other users. Note that the forum staff reserves the right to decide what does and does not count as disrespect and that they constitute the final say in that department. If they are in agreement that your actions were disrespectful, you will be disciplined accordingly. You will, however, be allowed to contact an administrator for clarification.


Porn
No posts on the subject of porn, graphic sex, nudity, hentai or similar animated porn are allowed. If you post on these subjects it is an instant 2 week ban, any repeat violations will result in an IP Ban. Do not post this kind of thing in the Forums. This is not the place for it. There are many users far below the 18 and older statute for porn where the server is located. Thus, it is not allowed.


Warez, Cracks, and Hacks
Anyone who asks for any form of warez, crack or hack of any kind will be dealt with according to the corrective action section below. Allowing people to ask for/exchange warez in our forums makes all of us liable for the consequences. filefront, our host, does not allow warez on their servers, thus it is against this AUP and their TOS (Terms of Service).

Multiple Accounts from the same location or computer

No multiple accounts, please contact an administrator to change usernames if you must. Anyone with two accounts is subject to disciplinary action. Only under circumstances where multiple users dwell within the same house, or where the same computer is shared, will this be allowed, you must contact an administrator or you will be assumed to be in violation of this policy.

On that note, any attempt to circumvent temporary banning will result in an immediate and permanent IP ban. Do not test this policy.


Ripping and Credit
Every model, signature or artwork piece edit made or posted on the forums must be approved by the express permission of the original model maker. If the edit is based on another edit, the Original creator must be credited with your first post. Excuses like "sorry, credits come later" or "I forgot to post them" will not be tolerated. Repeated violations of this rule will result in a ban. Anyone failing to credit the original author will have their work treated as warez/hacks.


Signatures and Avatars
The following sig limitation size/rules are in effect and WILL be enforced.

No web pages on your sig whose total size is more than 600x200 (non-windowed) and no filesize to exceed 600k.

1) No pop-ups or automatic functions.
3) No music (unless it's on mouseover and this has to be declared.)
4) Multiple sigs totaling no greater than that size will also be accepted.

5) Any images containing anything that may be classified as offensive will be deleted by the appropriate authorities without warning.

6) Anyone found to push the boundaries intentionally will also face consequences.

7) While we do allow the "you're a" personality tests, we feel it is time to stop using them as sigs. Some of you have two or three of them in addition to regular sigs. This is very unfair to the people who pay to host those sigs; since they pay every time someone views your posts.

8) Nudity is not allowed, all subjects must have a minimum of swimwear or non-lewd clothing. In addition, suggestive posing is not allowed.


Advertising
The only place you are allowed to advertise is in your signature, and you must adhere to the above signature rules. (Signatures and Avatars policy) ESF is paid for by it's creators with no reimbursement, and they quite enjoy making this mod for all of you, it is not fair for you to place a free advertising burden on their bandwidth. Any violations of this rule will be treated as spam, with no exceptions.

Spam
We do not condone the consumption of this insipid meat product, but we also prefer it by a vast margin compared to it's sinister namesake . . . Do not spam (i.e., post unwanted garbage, one word posts, off topic posts in threads, sig tests, "laugh" posts, gibberish, or any other form of undesirable content.) in any section of this forum. This policy is strictly enforced.


Impersonation of staff/development team
We do not allow anyone to impersonate team members or forum/IRC staff. We also do not allow impersonations of any other nature. Do not attempt to pretend to be someone else for any reason. If you are found doing this, you will be dealt with in accordance with the corrective action section below.


Inappropriate Content
Because of the turbulent political climate in the world today, we are no longer allowing topics on the subject of war on the forum. It has been noticed that every single thread of that nature leads only to heated tempers and loud disagreement. Read the forum stickies to see any additional censored content.


Corrective Action
If any of these rules are broken in any way, shape or form (as decided by the forum staff and mod development team) you will be dealt with as follows:

First Occasion
- Warning

Second Occasion
- Temporary Ban (Usually 2 weeks)

Third Occasion
- Permanent Ban
- SteamID Ban on all ESF servers
- Termination of Internet Connection by ISP

We also reserve the right to immediately ban people who have been trouble makers before, to protect those who are using the forum for the right purposes. This AUP may be changed at any time to include new rules. If this happens how ever, you'll have to agree upon the AUP again.

If you feel if you have been treated unfairly you may appeal to a higher forum official than the one who acted against you. The chain of command is (roughly) as follows:

The list is highest to lowest. If you have been banned/warned, you may appeal to higher groups. You will be held accountable for your own actions, no other circumstances other than your own behavior will be taken into account.

The forum staff frequents IRC at Gamesnet.net, port 6667, #esf and #esf-help. Please be sure to follow these common sense rules in the chat channel as well.
