This should help download the attached file and put it in your half-life directory it is made for the MP3 player that comes with ESF but some people just dont have it in there comp i guess so just download it and put it in your half-life directory and it should work... copy and paste this url if it gives u a webpage instead of a download box. http://home.student.utwente.nl/h.vanwelbergen/fmod.dll
Extract this file to the HALFLIFE directory
THIS IS NOT a Client DLL it lets the game read the client dll with the mp3 player

in the halflife directory. When i first got it awhile ago they told me to put it in windows/system directory and it worked so i dunno try your halflife directory as well. Harsens knows all =)

oh god some people are dumb if u get the error that it cant open or read the client dll u need to download the file at the top of this thread not get another client.dll that will be exactly alike from the same install that u got!.. Sorry about that just so frusterating to get people to understand something so simple and if the link at the top of this thread gives u a blank website copy and paste the url into your address bar then it should give u a dl box.

Its because its a System File ".dll"
Go in file options in ur Start menu , after in parameter , ull see it
Put "show all file"

Because its at "Dont show hidden or system files"

Where did you install the dll? If you installed it in the correct directory, try reinstalling it, it might help depends on your situation. Also you should have your Half-Life updated to 1.1.0.8. ! If it isn't, this is your problem!

i have esf beta 2.0 and cs retrail (win xp) i installed it i put the fmod.dll in the cs directory and in the windows/system directory and it didn`t work i uninstalled cs and esf reinstalled it and it didn`t work

I have all the correct versions, I know cus i have uninstalled/reinstalled-then-updated more than you can count.

Could it be because of me having dragon mod z? I don't know cus ive played one then the other i believe.

Thanks for the advice. At first the file you said to download didn’t work, but now I know I have to update my half-life it has made me a happy bunny…….One more thing, every one in my house kept the secrete from me. It’s April 1st today and I am the prankster king and nobody told me what day it was.

The only way ( that i can find ) to get the client.dll error to work is:

IF you have a friend that has the game (WORKING)
Next time your both to a "Computer Weekend/Night"

Get the hole game transferred to your computer.....
It Workes....

You can try downloading ESF 2.0 (alpha) again, than install it over the other files!!
or it could be Windows Extra Problems (but it worked on XP for me, but XP sux overall) you can try Win 98 SE.

ore you have to wait for the new Beta (aprox 2 months)

hey guys i just read through this thread and wow i don't wanna be a bug 2 hamster but i downloaded the fmod.dlll and i extracted it into

b4 it gave me the error now when i try to do internet games or LAN games it justs boots out of ESF can u help me tell me if i am doing something wrong thnx i can email u guys screen shots step by step if you want

Yo Im a new member and i just downloaded ESF like 2 hours ago
evry time i try to get on a server it exits my game and says
HL will now close unkown error it also says try restarting ur comp and i do that when i try to get on ESF agin it keeps doin that.

Sorry to follow the group but i've pasted the fmod.dll in the halflife directory. Its not working. I'm sorry to ask for help, but I rarely need it when It comes to these sorts of things.

It happens when you try to create one or join one for any mod at all.It happened to me when i first started now it works great.Alot of lag though,and crashes.
